Gulshan Kumar Mehta, better known as Gulshan Bawra, was born on April 12, 1937, in Sheikhupura, Punjab (now in Pakistan). He was a renowned Indian lyricist and actor in Hindi cinema, contributing to about 240 songs over a 42-year career. One of his most memorable songs is “Mere Desh Ki Dharti” from the film “Upkar” (1967).
