Hridaynath Mangeshkar, affectionately known as Balasaheb, was born on October 26, 1937, in Sangli, Maharashtra. He is a distinguished Indian music director and singer, and the only son of the renowned musician Deenanath Mangeshkar. His siblings include legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

Throughout his career, Hridaynath has composed music for various Marathi and Hindi films, such as Akash Ganga (1955), Sansar, Chaani, Ha Khel Savalyancha, Janaki, Jait Re Jait, Umbartha, Nivdung, Subah, Lekin…, and Maya Memsaab. His compositions are known for their intricate melodies and deep emotional resonance.

In recognition of his contributions to music, he has received several accolades, including the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Lekin… in 1990 and the Padma Shri in 2009.

Hridaynath is married to Bharati Malvankar Mangeshkar, daughter of Marathi comedian Damuanna Malvankar. They have two sons, Aadinath and Baijnath, and a daughter, Radha, who is also a singer.
