He was proficient in multiple instruments, including the flute, piano, and esraj. Chowdhury’s compositions seamlessly blended Indian classical music with folk traditions and Western influences. He scored music for films in 13 languages, with notable works like “Madhumati” (1958) and “Anand” (1971). His song “Aaja Re Pardesi” from Madhumati remains a classic. Chowdhury passed away on September 5, 1995, leaving a lasting legacy in Indian music.
