Pandit Shivkumar Sharma (13 January 1938 – 10 May 2022) was an Indian classical musician and santoor player who is credited with adapting the santoor for Indian classical music. Born in Jammu, he began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma. Shivkumar Sharma’s pioneering efforts elevated the santoor from a folk instrument to a prominent feature in classical music. He collaborated with flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia under the name Shiv–Hari, composing music for films like Silsila (1981) and Chandni (1989).
