Hindi Amrapali (1966)

“Amrapali” is a historical drama film released on 11 September 1966, directed by Lekh Tandon. The movie stars Vyjayanthimala in the titular role, with Sunil Dutt playing the lead male character. The narrative is set in the ancient city of Vaishali and is based on the life of Amrapali, the royal courtesan who later becomes the disciple of Buddha.

The film’s music, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing its historical and emotional depth, was composed by Shankar–Jaikishan, one of the most celebrated music director duos of Indian cinema.
