Hindi Hatya (1988)

Hatya is a 1988 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Kirti Kumar. The movie stars Govinda, Neelam Kothari, Anupam Kher, and Baby Sujata in pivotal roles. Released on June 3, 1988, the film is a remake of the Malayalam movie “Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal” (1986).

The plot centers around Sagar (Govinda), a wealthy but aimless young man who, after a night of heavy drinking, finds a homeless deaf-mute boy named Raja (Baby Sujata). Sagar takes Raja home and becomes determined to nurture him. As Sagar uncovers the mystery of Raja’s past, he discovers that Raja’s mother was brutally murdered. With the help of Sapna (Neelam Kothari), Sagar seeks justice for Raja. The film’s music was composed by Bappi Lahiri, with lyrics by Indeevar. The soundtrack includes memorable songs sung by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, K. J. Yesudas, Mohammed Aziz, and Sapna Mukherjee. Hatya won accolades at the 34th Filmfare Awards, securing the Best Art Direction award for Liladhar S. Sawant and Best Sound for J. P. Sehgal.
