Hindi Masoom (1983)

Masoom, released on 21 October 1983, is a critically acclaimed Indian drama film directed by Shekhar Kapur. This film marks Kapur’s directorial debut and is based on Erich Segal’s novel “Man, Woman and Child.” The story revolves around a family dealing with the revelation that the husband has a son from a past affair. The cast includes Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in leading roles, portraying the couple whose lives are turned upside down by the arrival of the husband’s illegitimate son, played by Jugal Hansraj. Urmila Matondkar and Aradhana Srivastav also play pivotal roles as their daughters.

The music for Masoom was composed by the legendary R.D. Burman, with lyrics penned by Gulzar. The soundtrack of the movie was highly praised and contributed significantly to its success.
