Angaraag Mahanta, popularly known as Papon, was born on November 24, 1975, in Guwahati, Assam, India. He was born into a musical field family; his parents, Khagen Mahanta and Archana Mahanta, were well-known folk musicians from Assam. Papon became popular in the Indian music scene, particularly in the various fields of folk, classical music, and new-age Indian subcontinental music. His career as a music director is noted for his ability to bring out the deep-rooted folk sounds of Assam and mix them with ambient electronic influences. Famous Songs Directed by him include “Kyon” from the movie “Barfi“(2012), “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” from the movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), and “Labon Ka Karobaar” from the movie Befikre (2016). Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” from the movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) and Screen Award for Best Male Playback also for “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage.”
