Dhruv Ghanekar is a talented music director and composer whose career has made significant contributions to the Indian music scene both at the Indian and international levels. Born on April 30, 1974, his journey in music began at a young age, and by the time he was in school, his passion for the guitar had led him to form a rock band called Chakraview. After the band dissolved in 1996, Ghanekar’s musical career took a new turn when he partnered with Ashutosh Phatak. Together, they founded Smoke Studios and later the innovative Blue Frog venue. Ghanekar’s work is known for mixing various music and cultures. His music production house, Wah Wah Music, has produced commercials internationally and for the Indian sub-continent, music for Indian TV networks, feature films, and web series. Notably, his work on the NIKE commercials has won prestigious awards such as the Cannes Lions, D&AD, Clios, and more. His album “Voyage,” released under Wah Wah Music, was acclaimed for its eclectic fusion of sounds from North and West Africa, Jazz, Pop, Assamese Folk, Rajasthani Indian folk, and Classic Rock, earning several industry nominations and awards. Ghanekar’s famous works include scoring and composing for the film “Dhaakad,” where he created memorable tracks like “So Ja Re” and “Babul”.
