Goutam Ghose, born on July 24, 1950, is a renowned Indian film director, actor, music director, and cinematographer, mainly working in Bengali cinema. He is celebrated for receiving the “Vittorio Di Sica” Award in Italy (1997) and the Banga Bibhushan for lifetime achievement from the West Bengal government (2012). Ghose began his career with documentaries in 1973 and has since directed honored films like “Padma Nadir Majhi,” “Kaalbela,” “Gudia,” and “Moner Manush”. In his illustrious career, Ghose has directed music in films that have not only enriched Bengali cinema but have also garnered international recognition. Notably, his film “Moner Manush” won the Golden Peacock for Best Film at the 41st International Film Festival of India.
