Music Director S.D.Burman
S. D. Burman, born on 1 October 1906 – 31 October 1975, was a famous music director and singer from the royal family of Tripura. He began his music career with Bengali films in 1937 and later became a well-known composer for Hindi movies. Burman created music for more than 100 films and worked with famous singers like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Mohammed Rafi. His songs are known for their mix of Indian classical, folk, and film music. Some of his famous songs include “Mera Sundar Sapna Beet Gaya” from Do Bhai (1947), “Jalte Hain Jiske Liye” from Sujata (1959), and “O Re Majhi Mere Sajan Hai Us Paar” from Bandini (1963). Burman received the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for “Saphal Hogi Teri Aradhana” from Aradhana (1969) and was the only music director to win the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his work in Sujata.
