Singer Akhtar Chanal Zahri

Akhtar Chanal Zahri, a celebrated Pakistani Balochi folk singer, was born in 1954 in Khuzdar, Balochistan, Pakistan. He began his musical career by taking formal singing lessons in 1964 and came into national prominence in 1973 after being discovered by the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation’s Balochi Radio Station. His musical journey has taken him around the world, including performances in the United States, the Netherlands, and at various international forums. Some of his popular songs include “Daanah Pah Daanah,” “Nar Bait,” and “Afghan Jalebi (Doumbek Version)” from the Bollywood film Phantom (2015). His contributions to music have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 1998 .
