Arif Lohar, born on 18 April 1966 in Lalamusa, Punjab, Pakistan, is popular in the Punjabi folk music scene, both in Pakistan and India. His musical career, spanning over two decades, is adorned with over 150 albums and more than 3,000 songs, mainly in Punjabi. Lohar gained immense popularity with his rendition of “Jugni,” especially notable for its collaboration with Meesha Shafi in Coke Studio, which saw international success and was featured in Bollywood movies like “Cocktail” and “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.” Lohar’s honour include the prestigious Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in 2005 and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards in 2018. These honors celebrate his contribution to preserving Punjabi folk heritage and introducing it to newer audiences globally.
