Over the years, Bonny has spent over five decades performing timeless jazz standards on long-standing residencies at elite five-star hotels in Mumbai, famously earning the nickname ‘the Louis Armstrong of India’ for his distinct gravelly vocals. Some of his popular tracks include his amazing live renditions of Louis Armstrong classics, which showcase his versatility and talent. He has collaborated with various music directors and co-singers, bringing a fresh and dynamic sound to his music. His work in the comedy film Ulta Seedha (1985) has been particularly noteworthy, with the humorous wedding song “Uncle Robert Kya Bole Tumko,” composed by Rajesh Roshan with lyrics penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, where he shared microphone credits alongside playback icons Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
