Chitra Singh, originally named Chitra Shome, was born in 1940 in Kolkata. She is a famous Indian singer known for her ghazal songs. She and her husband, Jagjit Singh, played a pivotal role in popularizing the ghazal genre.. People often call them the “king and queen of ghazals” because of their big impact on music in the 1970s and 1980s. Some of their famous albums are “A Milestone,” “The Unforgettables,” and “Mirza Ghalib” (1988). Despite going through tough times, like the loss of their son Vivek in 1990, Chitra Singh is still remembered for her amazing contribution to music.
