Shabana Azmi is not primarily known as a singer but is a celebrated Indian actress born on September 18, 1950, in Hyderabad, India. She is renowned for her work in Hindi cinema and has been a prominent figure in the industry since the 1970s. Shabana is the daughter of famous poet Kaifi Azmi and stage actress Shaukat Azmi. She made her film debut with “Ankur” in 1974, which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Over her illustrious career, she has won several awards, including five National Film Awards and numerous Filmfare Awards. Some of her notable films include “Arth,” “Paar,” “Masoom,” “Chalk N Duster,” and her on-screen presence in the historic national integration video “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”. Although primarily an actress, she has contributed to the arts and culture in various forms, including lending her voice to the track “Jingle Bodmas” composed by Sandesh Shandilya. Shabana Azmi’s work extends beyond acting as she is also known for her social activism. She has been a part of several international projects and has received the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, two of India’s highest civilian honors.
