Subir Sen, born on 24 July 1934 in Dibrugarh, Assam, was a distinguished Indian playback singer renowned for his contributions to Hindi and Bengali cinema. Subir Sen’s repertoire included an extensive range of songs from modern tunes to Rabindra Sangeet, reflecting his versatility and deep connection to musical traditions. Among his notable Hindi film songs were “Ab To Aisa Lagta Hai ” from “Roop Sundari (1964)”, “Main Rangeela Pyar Ka Raahi” from “Chhoti Bahen (1959)”, and “Manzil Wahi Hai Pyar” from “Kath Putli (1957) “. Throughout his career, Subir Sen received several accolades, including the prestigious “Harmonica Sangeet Samman” Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 and the “Sangeet Maha Samman” in 2012 from the Government of West Bengal.
