Singer Sunil Dutt

Sunil Dutt, born on June 6, 1929, in Khurd, Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan), was a renowned Indian actor, producer, director, and politician. Although primarily celebrated for his acting career, his distinct voice was first recognized during his early days as a radio show host for Radio Ceylon. He gained fame with his role in the film “Mother India” (1957), where he starred alongside Nargis, who later became his wife. Sunil Dutt’s career spanned over four decades, during which he delivered memorable performances in films like “Sujata,” “Mujhe Jeene Do,” and “Padosan.” Legendary music directors like R.D. Burman and lyricists such as Anand Bakshi created evergreen songs for his films that continue to resonate with audiences. Apart from acting he has lent his voice to “Jane Jaan Paas Aao” from movie Yeh Rastey Hain Pyar Ke. He was honored with several prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri in 1968 and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995, recognizing his immense contribution to Indian cinema. Beyond films, he served as a Member of Parliament and was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. Sunil Dutt passed away on May 25, 2005, leaving behind a rich legacy.
