Vital Signs, a pioneering pop and rock band from Pakistan, formed in 1986 in Rawalpindi by Rohail Hyatt and Shahzad Hasan, quickly became the nation’s first and most celebrated musical group. The band was fronted by Junaid Jamshed, and their music reached the heart of Pakistani pop culture, especially during the conservative climate of the 1980s under President Zia-ul-Haq. Their breakout hit “Dil Dil Pakistan,” released in 1987, was directed by Shoaib Mansoor and voted the third most popular song worldwide by BBC World, which catapulted them to national fame. Other notable singles include “Do Pal Ka Jeevan” and “Sanwali Saloni” from their albums “Vital Signs 1” and “Vital Signs 2” respectively​. Throughout their career, Vital Signs produced four studio albums, with hits like “Aitebar” and “Hum Tum.” The band received significant acclaim, including two Lux Style Awards for their musical achievements. After disbanding in the late 1990s, members pursued solo careers with Junaid Jamshed becoming a prominent religious figure and Rohail Hyatt founding the influential “Coke Studio”​.
