Composer Raj Kamal

Raj Kamal, born Dalpat on January 15, 1928, in Mathaniya, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was an Indian music composer renowned for his contributions to Hindi cinema and television. He moved to Mumbai with his family, influenced by his uncle, tabla maestro Pt. Bansilal Bharati. Adopting the name Raj Kamal for his Bollywood career, he composed memorable songs like “Kahan Se Aaye Badra” from Chashme Buddoor (1981) and “Chand Jaise Mukhde Pe” from Sawan Ko Aane Do (1979). He also scored music for B.R. Chopra’s television series Mahabharat (1988). Raj Kamal passed away on September 1, 2005, at the age of 77.
