Hindi Rajput (1982)

Rajput is a Hindi romantic action film released on April 16, 1982. Directed by Vijay Anand, the movie features a star-studded cast including Dharmendra as Manupratap “Manu” Singh, Rajesh Khanna as Inspector/Superintendent Dhirendra Singh, Vinod Khanna as Bhanupratap Singh/Bhavani, Hema Malini as Janki Singh, Tina Munim as Jaya, and Ranjeeta Kaur as Kamli.

The plot revolves around the upheavals faced by royal families post-independence when kingdoms were annexed by the government. The film focuses on the struggles of Jaipal Singh, who refuses to relinquish his royal status, and the ensuing conflict with Police Inspector Dhirendra Singh. Personal relationships further complicate the story, with love and enmity intertwining the fates of the main characters. Despite production delays, Rajput was critically acclaimed and became a commercial success, ranking as the ninth highest-grossing film of 1982. The movie generated a gross income of est. ₹4.60 crores worldwide at the box office. The film’s music was composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi.
