Hindi Satya (1998)

Satya is an Indian Hindi crime movie, produced and directed by Ram Gopal Varma; written by Saurabh Shukla and Anurag Kashyap. It features J. D. Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar, Shukla, and Shefali Shah in lead roles. It is the first of Varma’s Gangster trilogy about organized crime in India. The movie follows Satya an immigrant who comes to Mumbai looking for a job, befriends Bhiku Mhatre (Bajpayee), and is drawn into the Mumbai underworld. The film’s music was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, with lyrics by Gulzar. The singers were Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Suresh Wadkar, Mano, Hariharan, and Bhupinder Singh.
