Music Director Datta Naik

Datta Naik was born on December 12, 1927, in Goa, India, and became a well-known music director in Bollywood. His music journey started when he was just 12 years old after he moved to Mumbai. With the help of famous music directors like S.D. Burman and Ghulam Haider, Datta learned a lot about music and became a respected music director himself. He worked with great lyricists like Sahir Ludhianvi, who helped make his songs very special and loved by many. From 1955 to 1987, Datta made music that mixed old and new styles, which many people enjoyed. He made some famous songs for movies like “Dhool Ka Phool,” “Sadhna,” and “Dharamputra.” His notable songs include “Daman Mein Daag Laga Baithe” and “Tu Hindu Banega Na Musalman Banega” from “Dhool Ka Phool”. Another song, “Nimbonichya jhaadaamaage Chandra jhopala ga baai” from the Marathi movie “Bala Gau Kashi Angai” (1977), sung by Suman Kalyanpur, is very popular in Maharashtra. Even though Datta Naik faced some tough times and health issues, with his last movie being “Chehre Pe Chehra” in 1980, he left behind music that people still listen to and love. Datta Naik died on December 30, 1987, but his music is still played and enjoyed by many around the world.
