Kavita Seth, born on September 14, 1970, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, is a prominent Indian playback singer and music director known for her contributions to Hindi cinema and Sufi music. Starting her career with the song “Zindagi ko Maula” for the film “Vaada” (2005), Kavita quickly made her mark with her soulful Sufi and Ghazal renditions. Her notable works as a music director include her contributions to the films “Yeh Mera India” (2009), “Cigarette Ki Tarah” (2012), and the honored “Jugjugg Jeeyo” (2022) where she also lent her voice. Kavita’s music often incorporates poetic elements and classical motifs, resonating deeply with the themes of spiritual and romantic transcendence. Some of her most famous songs include “Iktara” from “Wake Up Sid” (2009), which not only won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer but also became a cultural icon of modern Sufi music. Another significant track, “Tumhi Ho Bandhu” from the film “Cocktail” (2012). In 2022, her song “Rang Saari” from “Jugjugg Jeeyo” won her another Filmfare award.
