Krishna Chandra Dey, known as K.C. Dey, was a renowned music director, composer, and singer born on August 24, 1893, in Calcutta, British India. Despite losing his sight in 1906, Dey’s musical talents flourished. He mentored significant figures like S.D. Burman and contributed richly to Indian cinema and music, especially between 1932 and 1946. Dey’s work primarily spanned Bengali and Hindi films, where he was celebrated for integrating classical music with theatre traditions.
