Naushad Ali, born on 25 December 1919 in Lucknow, was a celebrated Indian music director for Hindi films, known for his classical music in cinema. He started his career with “Prem Nagar” in 1940 and achieved significant success with “Rattan” in 1944. Naushad was behind the music of many hit films, earning awards like the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1981 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. Some of his famous songs include “Tu Ganga Ki Mauj” from “Baiju Bawra,” “Mohe Panghat Pe” from “Mughal-e-Azam,” and “Dil Diya Dard Liya” from the movie of the same name. His work in “Baiju Bawra” and “Mughal-e-Azam” is particularly very famous, both films also earning him honor for his contribution to Indian cinema music.
