Music Director Shyamal Mitra

Shyamal Mitra was a celebrated music director and playback singer from India, born on January 14, 1929, in Naihati, Calcutta. He made significant contributions to the Bengali music industry and is remembered for his baritone voice and musical versatility. His career began with a struggle, finding his breakthrough in 1949 as a playback singer and never looking back after his early success with the song “Smriti Tumi Bedonar”. Mitra’s talent spanned across singing and composing, leaving a lasting legacy with his work in over a hundred Bengali films and directing music in more than fifty of them. Some of his famous songs include “Tomar Samadhi Phule Phule Dhaka”, “Gaane Bhubon Bhoriye Debe”, and “Amar Sopne Dekha Rajkonyya”. His famous songs include “Hum Gham Se Naa Haarenge” from “Mamta,” “Dil Use Doongi” from “Bandie,” “Dil Aisa Kisi Ne Mera Toda” from “Amanush“.
