Mastana’s musical journey soared in the 1940s and received a substantial boost in the mid-1960s with support from All India Radio, earning him, alongside peers like Surinder Kaur. His voice graced many folk and Bollywood songs, including memorable tracks like “Balle Ni Panjaab Diye Sher Bachiye,” “Doli Charhdeyan Marian Heer Cheekaan,” and “Kali Teri Gut.” Famous and well-known for his dedication to Punjabi folk music, Mastana was awarded the Padma Shri in 1985, one of the highest civilian awards in India.
