Dev Anand was born on September 26, 1923, in Shakargarh, Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan). He was a legendary Indian film actor, writer, director, and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema. Dev Anand’s career spanned over six decades, and he was one of the most celebrated actors of his time. He made his acting debut in 1946 with the film “Hum Ek Hain” and gained fame with hits like “Guide,” “Jewel Thief,” and “Hare Rama Hare Krishna.” Known for his charming persona and unique style, Dev Anand worked with renowned music directors like S.D. Burman and R.D. Burman, and his films featured memorable songs sung by legendary singers like Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. While he is prominently known as actor he has lent his voice to very few song such as “Aaiye Aap Ka” and “Gangster (Title).” He was honored with numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
