Singer Dhananjay Bhattacharya

Dhananjay Bhattacharya (September 10, 1922 – December 27, 1992) was an influential Indian Bengali singer and composer, celebrated for his best-known singing Shyama Sangeet. Starting his career in 1940, with the song, “Jodi bhule jao more/janabo na abhiman…”, Bhattacharya’s was well known for modern Bengali songs, Hindustani classical music, and more.
His notable songs include “Jhir Jhir Jhir Jhirjhiri Baroshay” from the movie “Pasher Bari,” a hit that showcases his signature style. Another significant contribution is his performance in “Sadhak Ramprasad” (1956), where he sang the majority of the film’s songs, demonstrating his versatility and depth in musical expression. “Matite Janmo Nilam”, “Ei Jhir Jhir Jhir Batase”, and “Jhanana Jhanana Baje” were other major hits. Dhanajay won the Gold Prize for his devotional songs in Rani Rasmoni.
