Malaysia Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011) was a celebrated Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema, known for his versatility across a range of genres in music. His musical career spanned nearly five decades, during which he sang close to 8,000 songs, many under the baton of legendary composers like Ilaiyaraaja and M. S. Viswanathan. Vasudevan’s voice was instrumental in popularizing folk and village songs, with memorable hits such as “Pothuvaga En Manasu Thangam” from Murattukalai, “Aasai Nooru Vagai” from Adutha Varisu, and “Then Kizhakku” from Kizhakku Cheemayile. He was honored with the Kalaimamani award by the Tamil Nadu Government and won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Male Playback twice, celebrating his significant contributions to Indian music.
