Rakesh Pandit, born on 8 September 1967 in Borivali, Mumbai, is a distinguished figure in the Indian music industry, known for his versatility across various genres like classical, semi-classical, ghazals, Sufi, folk, bhajans, and playback singing. His musical journey began at a tender age under the tutelage of his father, Shambhu Pandit, a notable name in the classical music sphere and part of the famed qawwali duo Shanker Shambhu. Rakesh’s professional singing career took off in 1989, marked by his Bollywood debut with the song “Milte Hain Dil Se Dil” from the movie Mera Dil Tere Liye, for which he received his first break from music director Babul Bose​. Throughout his career, Rakesh has delivered numerous hits that have left a lasting impact on his audience. Notable among these are “Yeh Jo Tera Zikr Hai” from the movie Guzaarish (2010), and the songs “Chilman Uthegi Nahin” from the film Kisna: The Warrior Poet.
