Shilpa Rao, born Apeksha Rao on April 11, 1984, in Jamshedpur, is a celebrated Indian playback singer who made her Bollywood debut with the song “Tose Naina” from the movie “Anwar” in 2007. Noteworthy among her hits are “Woh Ajnabee” from “The Train” (2007) and “Khuda Jaane” from “Bachna Ae Haseeno” (2008), the latter earning her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. Over the years, Shilpa Rao has been part of several significant Bollywood soundtracks. Her collaboration with music legend Ilaiyaraaja for the song “Mudi Mudi Ittefaq Se” from the film “Paa” (2009) . Her ability to deliver hits continued with songs like “Malang” from “Dhoom 3” (2013) and “Meherbaan” from “Bang Bang!” (2014). Apart from Bollywood, she has also made her mark internationally, participating in Coke Studio Pakistan.
