Shubha Mudgal is renowned for her contributions to Hindustani classical music, Indian pop, and Tamil cinema. Born in 1959, her diverse repertoire includes khyal, thumri, and dadra genres, earning her the Padma Shri in 2000. From an academic family with a deep interest in music, Mudgal’s performing career began in the 1980s, leading to experiments with pop and fusion music in the 1990s. She also authored a fiction book, “Looking for Miss Sargam: Stories of Music and Misadventure” in 2019.
