Sona Mohapatra, born on 17 June 1976 in Cuttack, Odisha, has carved a distinct niche in the Indian music scene with her unique voice and bold style. She embarked on her musical journey with a degree in engineering but soon shifted to music, marking her Bollywood debut with the song “Lori” from the film “Family” in 2006. Sona gained massive popularity with her hit song “Ambarsariya” from the movie “Fukrey” in 2013. Her other notable songs include “Bedardi Raja” from “Delhi Belly” and “Bahara Bahara” from “I Hate Luv Storys.” In addition to her music career, Sona Mohapatra has been an active voice on social issues, which is prominently reflected in her documentary “Shut Up Sona.” Her contributions have been recognized with nominations at prestigious awards, including for “Ambarsariya” at the Mirchi Music Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year. Sona Mohapatra’s work extends beyond singing as she, along with her husband Ram Sampath, runs the music production house OmGrown Music.
