Omkar Prasad Nayyar, born on January 16, 1926, in Lahore, British India (now Pakistan), was a celebrated Indian film music composer. He was known for his catchy tunes and rhythms in Hindi cinema during the 1950s and 1960s. One of his popular songs is “Maang Ke Saath Tumhara” from the film Naya Daur (1957), which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director. Nayyar passed away on January 28, 2007, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
