Anandji Virji Shah, born on March 2, 1933, in Kundrodi, Kutch, Gujarat, is a well known Indian music director and part of the legendary duo Kalyanji-Anandji along with his brother, Kalyanji Shah. Their journey in music direction began in the late 1950s composing music for over 250 films. Anandji’s expertise was instrumental in mixing classical Indian music with new rhythms, including Western musical styles. Some of the most famous songs directed by Anandji include “Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas” from Blackmail (1973),”Yeh Mera Dil” from Don (1978), “Mere Desh Ki Dharti” from Upkar (1967). Notably, the duo won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for their work in Kora Kagaz (1974) and Don (1978).The song “Yeh Mera Dil” from Don is particularly popular as it not only won awards but also became a cultural sensation, influencing pop culture and music remixes for years to come.
