Music Director L. Vaidyanathan

L. Vaidyanathan, born on April 9, 1942, in Chennai, India, was a most popular music director and composer trained in classical Carnatic music. He started his career as an assistant music director to G. K. Venkatesh and independently composed scores for over 170 films in Tamil and Kannada languages. Some of L. Vaidyanathan’s most famous compositions include the theme music for the iconic TV serial Malgudi Days which remains a beloved piece to this day. He also created memorable music for films such as Pesum Padam,  Lava Kusa: The Warrior Twins, Marupakkam, and Aparichita and Ondu Muttina Kathe in Kannada. Noteworthy among his awards, he was honored with the Kalaimamani by the Tamil Nadu government in 2003 for his contribution to the arts, particularly for his role in enriching Indian film music. He was honoured with the Kalaimamani Award (2003): For his extensive contributions to Tamil cinema, particularly recognized for his music in the film Marupakkam, and the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.
