Pritam Chakraborty, widely known just as Pritam, is most popular and famous in the world of Indian music, as a composer, instrumentalist, and singer. He was born on June 14, 1971, in Kolkata, West Bengal. After moving to Mumbai in 1997, he initially made his mark by composing ad jingles, working with several now-famous personalities. He grew up with the film “Tere Liye” in 2001, although it was the music for “Dhoom” in 2004 that catapulted him to fame, earning him widespread recognition and his first Zee Cine Award for Best Track of the Year. Over the years, Pritam has made soundtracks that mix Indian classical music with contemporary Western styles, like pop, Sufi, and rock. Some of his most famous songs include “Mauja Hi Mauja” from “Jab We Met,” which not only received critical honor but also won him a Zee Cine Award for Best Track of the Year. “Pee Loon” from “Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai,” and “Gerua” from “Dilwale,” which broke records by becoming the first Bollywood song to cross 100 million views on YouTube in the shortest time. His work in “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” and “Jagga Jasoos” earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.
