Salim–Sulaiman, the musical duo of brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, have been creating music for Bollywood films since the 1990s. Born and raised in Mumbai, they were inspired by their father, Sadruddin Merchant, to pursue music. Salim mastered the piano in London, while Sulaiman trained in playing the tabla under famous musicians. They became well-known with their work on the film score for “Bhoot” and have since contributed to movies like “Neal ‘n’ Nikki,” “Chak De! India,” and “Fashion.” The duo has also worked with various artists and produced music for TV commercials and international projects, including a remix for Lady Gaga. Their famous songs include “Shukran Allah” from “Kurbaan,” “Aashayein” from “Iqbal,” and “Chak De! India” title track. Salim–Sulaiman have received numerous awards for their music, including the Filmfare Award for Best Background Score for “Krrish” and the IIFA Best Background Score Award for “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.”
