Throughout his career spanning from 1945 to 2002, he left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema with his work in over 638 films, contributing more than 4000 songs. Some of his most memorable songs include “Dum Maro Dum” from Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971), “Yeh Shaam Mastani” from Kati Patang (1970), and “Chingari Koi Bhadke” from Amar Prem (1972). Bakshi’s talent earned him widespread honour, including four Filmfare Awards for Best Lyricist, marking his songs not just as musical pieces but as integral parts of Indian cinematic history.
