Singer Mitali Singh

Mitali Singh, originally known as Mitali Mukherjee, is a celebrated Indian-Bangladeshi playback and classical singer born in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. With a career spanning from 1978 to the present, she has made significant contributions to the music industry. Mitali embarked on her musical journey after receiving formal training in classical music from Pt. Mithun Dey and studying music at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Her distinctive voice and emotive singing style quickly won her awards, including the prestigious Bangladesh National Film Award in 1982 for the song “Ei Dunia Ekhon To Ar” from the film “Dui Poishar Alta”​. Throughout her illustrious career, Mitali Singh has collaborated with notable figures like the lyricist Gulzar on the album “Chand Parosa Hai,” showcasing her versatility across various languages including Punjabi, Gujarati, and Tamil. Some of her notable songs include “Tumi Chokkher Aral Hoile Amar” from the film “Matir Putul” (1981), “Peyechhi Ami Tare” from “Sohag Milon” (1982), and “Amake Chhara Aar Kauke” from “Phuler Moto Bou” (2005). Her contribution to music has not only been limited to playback singing but also extends to her role as a judge on popular television shows like “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” and “Shera Kontho”. Some other notable songs are Aaj Ki Raat, Pyar Na Toote, and Nazar Ne Nazar Se.
