Wajid Ali Khan, born on July 10, 1977, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was a prominent figure in Bollywood music, celebrated for his vibrant contributions as part of the music director duo Sajid–Wajid. He embarked on his musical journey alongside his brother, Sajid Khan, influenced deeply by their father, Sharafat Ali Khan, a noted tabla player. Wajid’s career spanned over two decades, beginning in 1998, during which he crafted numerous hit songs and scores for Bollywood films, often collaborating with top actors and singers. The duo Sajid–Wajid first gained fame with their work in the Salman Khan-starrer “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya” (1998). Over the years, they became synonymous with several successful tracks in films like “Dabangg” (2010), where their song “Munni Badnaam Hui” became a nationwide sensation, and “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012). Their significant contributions to music were recognized with numerous awards, including the Filmfare Award for their work in “Dabangg”.
