Zubaida Khanum, a distinguished Pakistani playback singer born in 1935, left an indelible mark on the film music industry of the 1950s and 1960s. Her career, though spanning a short period from 1951 to 1960, was impactful, with over 250 songs recorded. Khanum’s melodious voice contributed significantly to the Golden Age of Pakistani cinema, earning her a comparison to Marni Nixon of Hollywood. She debuted with “Shehri Babu” in 1953, delivering numerous hits and collaborating with top music directors like Ghulam Ahmed Chishti and Khwaja Khurshid Anwar.
