Composer G.S. Kohli

Gurusharan Singh Kohli, known as G.S. Kohli, was a talented Indian music composer and arranger born in Punjab in 1928. He began his career as an assistant to the renowned music director O.P. Nayyar, contributing to films like Baaz (1953) and Naya Daur (1957).

Kohli later became an independent composer, creating memorable scores for films such as Mr. India (1961), Faulad (1963), and Shikari (1963). Notable songs from his compositions include “Tumko Piya Dil Diya” and “Agar Main Puchoon Jawab Doge” from Shikari.

Throughout his career, Kohli was known for his expertise in playing instruments like the dholak and tabla, which enriched his compositions. He continued to assist O.P. Nayyar even after establishing himself as an independent composer, demonstrating his dedication to the craft.

G.S. Kohli passed away on July 25, 1996, leaving behind a legacy of melodious and memorable music in the Hindi film industry.
