Benaam Badsha is a 1991 Indian Hindi-language crime drama film directed by K. Ravi Shankar and produced by K. Ramji. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, and Shilpa Shirodkar in pivotal roles. It is a remake of the Tamil film “Pudhea Paadhai” directed by R. Parthiban. The story revolves around a young man named Deepak, played by Anil Kapoor, who was abandoned as a baby and grows up to become a paid assassin, kidnapper, and rapist. Juhi Chawla portrays Jyoti, a woman whose life is shattered when she is raped on her wedding day. Despite the trauma, Jyoti decides to reform her attacker by moving in with him and gradually transforming his life. The film explores themes of redemption and transformation against a backdrop of crime and societal challenges.
The film’s music was composed by the famous duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi.
