Music Director Feroz Nizami

Feroz Nizami, born Ferozuddin Ahmad on November 10, 1910, in British India, now Lahore, Pakistan, was a notable music director and classical singer. His music career blossomed in both India and Pakistan, famously composing for the blockbuster film “Jugnu” in 1947. This work established him among the top composers of his time. After moving to Pakistan post-partition, Nizami continued his influential work in the Pakistani film industry, contributing to films like “Hamri Basti” and “Chann Wey”. Notably, he introduced the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi to the Indian film industry. Among his famous compositions are songs for “Jugnu,” “Chann Wey,” and “Dopatta,” the latter being a major hit in the early 1950s in Pakistan. His contributions to music were not only through compositions but also through his writings on music, including “ABC of Music” and “History and Development of Music,” marking significant contributions to the music literature in Pakistan.
