Music Director Saraswati Devi

Saraswati Devi, born Khorshed Minocher-Homji on August 1912 in Bombay, was one of the first female music directors in Indian cinema. Her career started in the early 1930s when she joined Bombay Talkies and changed her name to Saraswati Devi to fit better into the Hindi film industry, which was unusual and groundbreaking at the time. Saraswati Devi’s music direction debut was with the film “Jawani Ki Hawa” in 1935. She quickly became known for her melodious compositions and her ability to mix Indian classical music with new sounds. Famous Songs Directed by them includes “Main Ban Ki Chidiya Banke” from “Achhut Kanya” (1936), “Koi Humdum Na Raha” from “Jeevan Naiya” (1936) and “Ek Chatur Naar Karke Singaar” from “Jhoola” (1941).
