Kapil Kapilan, born Kapilan Nair MR from Kottarakkara, Kerala, is a distinguished playback singer in Indian cinema, predominantly performing in South Indian languages since his debut in 2017. His journey into music, supported by his father’s encouragement and substantial personal sacrifices, led him to study music at AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, which paved the way for his career. Kapilan’s breakthrough came with his Tamil hit song “Adiye” from the film Bachelor in 2021, a performance that earned him the SIIMA Award for Best Playback Singer – Tamil. He also received award and a Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer for the Malayalam song “Kanave” from the yet-to-be-released Pallotty 90s Kids. Kapil’s versatility spans across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, with other notable songs including “Neela Nilave” from the Malayalam film RDX and the title track of the Kannada film Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A. Other songs are Sakhiye, Heli, and Theera Nadhi.
