K. S. Chithra, born on 27 July 1963 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is an illustrious Indian playback singer whose musical journey spans over four decades, during which she has recorded over 25,000 songs in a myriad of Indian languages. With her father, Krishnan Nair, a music enthusiast and teacher, and her mother, Shanthakumari, also a music teacher, Chithra was nurtured in a musically enriched environment. Her significant achievements include being the recipient of six National Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards South, along with the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2021 and Padma Shri in 2005 for her contributions to Indian music. Chithra has a global presence, marked by her performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London and being honored by the Government of China at the Qinghai International River Festival.
